ME Labs

CAD & CNC LAB

A CAD (Computer-Aided Design) and CNC (Computer Numerical Control) lab is a facility with software and machinery dedicated to designing, analysis and manufacturing process.

Workshops

Some of the core competencies required for the traditional branches of engineering are obtained in workshop. It is a place where a student is taught technical skills with the help of practical works. Workshop include many trades, some of them are:

a. Carpentry Shop: Carpentry is a trade where a student is taught about wood works and different engineering wood joints. Students learn about the design, construction & repair of engineering structures like flooring, roofing and even furniture works.

b. Fitting Shop: The primary objective of fitting is to assemble different parts of the metal objects by removing the unnecessary metal parts. Fitting is a highly skilled craft that include manufacturing, assembling and fitting these components for machinery.

c. Welding Shop: Welding is a permanent fastening process of joining the metals together using heat. Welding plays a very important role in the development of some of most massive structure, where different parts are joined using welding. Welding shop is a place where a student learns different types of welding, the edge preparation required for welding and also test for its strength and soundness.

d. Foundry Shop: It is a place that casts metals in to required shapes by melting them down and pouring the molten metal into a sand mould to form complex parts. Many complex components such as engines, gear boxes are produced by the method of casting in foundry shop. Along with mould preparation and casting, students are also taught to find the faults in the casted parts.

e. Forging Shop: It is a place in the workshop where the given metals are heated to red hot temperature to give them the required shape by hammering or pressing. Forging is one of the most efficient processes in manufacturing sector that is carried out in forging shop. It is also referred as Smithy’s shop.
